About WNC Nonprofit Pathways
| TEACH — LINK — SUPPORT |
|---|
Our goal is to link local nonprofit leaders with learning opportunities, resources and support to help them become more effective in serving the community. |
Western North Carolina Nonprofit Pathways is a collaboration of the following organizations:
- Cherokee Preservation Foundation
- The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina
- Mission Healthcare Foundation
- United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County
These groups came together out of concern about the increasing demands on nonprofits and a desire to play a role in building the capacity of community organizations so they can best carry out their missions.
Our philosophy: Teach — Link — Support
WNC Nonprofit Pathways' work centers around six fundamental competencies grounded in best practices. While we offer a number of one-time learning opportunities, our research tells us that lasting change in nonprofit organizations requires ongoing, structured support. Thus, follow-up individualized assistance is a core part of this program. The overall design for service delivery will continually evolve, based on the input of local nonprofit leaders regarding what works best.
Listening to the local nonprofit sector
WNC Nonprofit Pathways researched what's needed most -- through a year of personal interviews and focus group meetings with numerous nonprofit leaders, a review of current WNC offerings related to organizational development, and a look at model initiatives around the nation.
