Learning Opportunities

roadsigns2.gifIn the ever-changing world of nonprofit management, it is critical to stay up to date on the skills and knowledge you need to be successful in serving the community. With this in mind, we offer:

  • A Calendar of learning opportunities available to staff and volunteer leaders of nonprofit organizations across the mountain region. We invite you to submit listings of educational events (click here to add an event). Our goal is to increase awareness about and access to a wide variety of high quality workshops, presentations, and support that will strengthen nonprofit leaders and their organizations.
  • Nonprofit Fundamentals includes six courses offered annually that cover the core competencies that every nonprofit leader needs to know. Fundamentals courses are taught by local leaders who are experienced and knowledgeable on these topics so critical to nonprofit success. Click here for more information and the current course schedule.
  • Duke Nonprofit Management Program courses are offered each Spring and Fall across the mountains. WNC Nonprofit Pathways hosts this program in our region. Click here for information on current course offerings.

Other learning opportunities developed and offered by WNC Nonprofit Pathways include:
  • Nonprofit Leadership Forum - Annual presentation targeted to executive directors and board chairs.
  • Board Best Practices Training - On-site session at your organization, covering the key roles and responsibilities of Board members, as well as how to work well as a team.
  • Compliance Update - Annual educational program on the laws governing North Carolina's nonprofits, as well as related compliance issues.  Presented in partnership with the N.C. Center for Nonprofits.
