Self Assessment

compass2.gifNonprofits face new challenges related to accountability and performance. To help organizations meet these important expectations, we offer two self-assessment tools for reviewing the status of your organization as compared to broadly accepted standards in the field:

  • Infrastructure Checklist - A list covering the foundation needed for your organization, including essential and recommended documentation, and systems and support mechanisms.
    Download:   .doc   .pdf

  • Effectiveness Survey - A diagnostic questionnaire covering key areas of work, such as governance and financial management, to help identify and prioritize issues to address.

These tools are offered as a starting point for discovery about the health of your organization.

You may also wish to consider an assisted assessment, which utilizes the services of an experienced consultant to guide the staff and board through a process of identifying key strengths and challenges and prioritizing steps for improvement.

Note: The attached tools incorporate the NC Center for Nonprofits Standards for Excellence, covering regulatory requirements and operational best practices.
