Board Best Practices Training

PLEASE NOTE: We are currently undergoing changes to our programming, based on a recent evaluation of Pathways services.  New guidelines and procedures for the activities listed below will be announced in Sept. 2010.

Is your organization governed in a way that meets today's challenges?

roadsigns2.gifYour Board is invited to host an on-site training, where they will learn how to govern more effectively to help their organization succeed in today's challenging environment.  In this interactive session, Board members will learn:

  • Why Boards are important
  • The difference between governance and management - board and staff roles
  • The key roles of a Board member, with best practices and discussion of practical examples for each
  • Tips for how the Board can work effectively together as a team

Time commitment and fee

The training lasts about 2.5 hours; the executive director and Board chair will spend additional time in brief preparation with the trainer.  A minimum of 90 percent of Board members must commit to participating.  The training is provided through a sliding scale fee of $200 to $500, based on budget size.
