Update on Compliance and Regulatory Issues

roadsigns2.gifNonprofit organizations have experienced a loss of public trust in recent years. Consequently, regulatory bodies have imposed new rules that apply to even the smallest organizations. With the heightened government scrutiny on nonprofits, as well as increased penalties for non-compliance, are you on top of the latest tax, legal, accounting and governance requirements?

In response to requests from the Western North Carolina nonprofit community, each Spring we  offer a short course in the latest legal and regulatory requirements and issues facing our sector.

Annual Compliance Update

(Dates for the spring 2009 program will be announced in late 2008)

This program is offered in two parts; attendees may come to one or both parts.

  • Part A -- Laws Governing N.C. Nonprofits (overview of requirements, repeated annually)
  • Part B -- Compliance Update (focus on changes in state and federal regulations during the past year)

The program is presented by David Heinen, Director of Public Policy and Advocacy at the N.C. Center for Nonprofits.
