Course Description
Your "human capital" may be the single most important ingredient that ensures your organization's success or decline. This course will help you make every human resource (HR) decision and activity count. We will discuss the importance of adopting a strategic HR approach that directly aligns with your planning and directly helps you reach your organization's goals.
Learning Objectives:
- How a sound, flexible Human Resources structure can support your organization through its normal lifecycle;
- Basic human resource management functions, including staffing, performance management, compensation/benefits, and risk management;
- Other HR-related activities, supporting documents, legal issues, and best practices.
You'll also get an overview of the Nonprofit Lifecycle, Four Core Capacities, and Organization Culture - a proven model for effectiveness based on the success of hundreds of other nonprofits;
At the end of the day, you'll have an outline of a strategic communications plan to help drive your organization's future success.
Follow-up Support
After the completion of the course, attendees can access coaching from the instructor in order to help apply what's been learned to the needs of their organizations. (You must be affiliated with a WNC nonprofit in order to access this support.)
Who should take Fundamentals - Human Resources Management?
This interactive program is intended for new to intermediate nonprofit executives or seasoned executives who have not had the opportunity to participate in formal Human Resources-related training.
Instructor: Carol Rovello has 27 years experience as a human resource consultant. She previously helped start a nonprofit and served as its executive director for six years. Carol has a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Master's Degree in Administration, and certification as a Senior Professional of Human Resources. She works with small to large organizations across industries, including nonprofits.
