WHAT WE OFFER: A GUIDE TO NONPROFIT PATHWAYS SERVICES

Listed below are the services you can access to help strengthen your nonprofit organization.

Note: Pathways services are only available to groups located in or serving one or more of the 18 counties of western NC (designated as our service area).

LEVEL 1 - INTRODUCTORY SERVICES: Build Skills

Who Participates? Pathways Program Cost / Access Location / Timing Benefits

Any nonprofit leader

(Staff or board; level varies - basic or advanced)

Workshops:
Duke Nonprofit Management courses on varying topics

Approx. $90 per person;  ½ price scholarship for any WNC nonprofit One-day courses; offered at multiple locations in WNC

Scheduled In Fall and Spring
Practical information on managing your nonprofit to apply directly at your organization

Any organization located in or serving western North Carolina

(Staff or board; intro level)

Workshops:

Nonprofit Fundamentals courses on eight topics: Planning, Board Development, Finances, Fundraising, Communication, Evaluation, Human Resources, and Advocacy

Approx. $90 per person; ½ price scholarship for any WNC nonprofit One-day courses; offered in Asheville

Scheduled  in Fall and Spring
Practical information to apply directly at your organization; free consultation available from instructor
Any organization located in or serving western North Carolina

(Staff and board leaders)
Nonprofit Leadership Forum Approx. $25 per person Held each Fall in Asheville Network with peers;
Learn about current topics and trends

Any organization located in or serving western North Carolina

(All staff and board)
Nonprofit Compliance Update Approx. $25 per person Held each Spring in Asheville Network with peers;
Learn new and ongoing legal requirements

LEVEL 2 - ORGANIZATION ASSESSMENT

On-Line Assessment:
Core Capacity Assessment Tool
-Introductory version
$50 per organization for 1st time takers Available, on-line, ongoing Customized report rates your organization in Core Capacities and Organization Culture; also placement on Nonprofit Lifecycle

WNC Nonprofit that meets Intermediate criteria

(Small group of organization leaders)

Organization Coaching Session By application; No deadlines; Free At your organization; At your requested time Discuss and prioritize your capacity needs with an experienced professional

LEVEL 3 - INTERMEDIATE SERVICES: Organization Change

Intermediate criteria - must meet these to access Intermediate level  services:

  • Complete Core Capacity Assessment Tool (see above) and submit Assessment Report to Pathways
  • Operating as tax-exempt  501©3 for at least two yrs.
  • Minimum $100,000 budget + Minimum 7 active board members + Minimum 2 paid staff

WNC Nonprofit; meets Intermediate criteria, including completion of I-CCAT assessment tool

On-Site Training:

-Partnering for Impact*

By application; No deadlines; Sliding scale $300 to $500

*Free for qualifying organizations until Jan. 1, 2012

At your organization; At your requested time Teaches best practices; identifies strengths and areas for improvement, provides plan for prioritized "next steps"

WNC Nonprofit that meets Intermediate criteria AND has completed Organization Coaching Session

(Staff and board as appropriate for focus of grant)

Capacity Grant

NOTE: Grants limited to funders' priority areas

By application; Quarterly deadlines; No fee-grant supported

Deadlines:
Feb. 15; 
May 15;
Aug. 15;
and Nov. 15

At your organization; Duration usually one year or less Based on your Assessment results, get customized consulting to help your organization address key capacity issues

LEVEL 4 - INTENSIVE SERVICES - Increase Impact

The following services are available for select groups that have been prioritized by Pathways funding partners:

  • Leadership Training
  • Sustainability Consulting
  • Impact Grants (individual orgs. or cohorts of orgs.)
